Audio Documentary 101
There is a wellspring of powerful documentaries created for the radio and the Internet, but students in media or journalism courses rarely get a chance to hear them or to study the more creative aspects of the radio medium in depth. This is due, in large part, to the lack of audio resources available to teachers. The Third Coast Festival has created its first curriculum, Audio Documentary 101, to help remedy the situation.
Audio Documentary 101 is a guided listening experience including a wide-ranging collection of fifteen exceptional audio documentaries on three cds, a teacher's handbook and a robust list of resources and other reading materials. The curriculum was made possible in part with a grant from the Illinois Humanities Council.
