The 2014 Call for Entries is closed, thanks to all who entered!
The Third Coast / Richard H. Driehaus Foundation Competition seeks the best audio work produced worldwide in the following categories:
Best Documentary (Gold, Silver, Bronze, Directors' Choice, Honorable Mention), Directors Choice, Best New Artist, Radio Impact, and Best News Feature and introduce a new award - The Little Mermaid.
Winners will be celebrated at Third Coast Awards Ceremony on November 9 in Chicago. Their winning stories will be featured in Best of the Best: The 2014 Third Coast Festival Broadcast, distributed to public radio stations nationwide by the Public Radio Exchange (PRX) this Fall.
Winning producers will receive:
- Prizes ranging from $1000 to $4000
- A license for Hindenburg Journalist Pro editing software
- A free registration (one per winning entry) for the 2014 Third Coast Conference, November 7-9, Holiday Inn Mart Plaza
Other outstanding entries may be featured:
- on our weekly radio show Re:sound (on WBEZ, Chicago)
- on this website, in the Third Coast library spotlight
- at public listening events in Chicago and beyond.
Entrants will be notified and compensated when applicable, if/when their work is featured.
Competition entries are judged by highly accomplished audio producers and editors from around the world. Judges consider the degree to which the entries - of all styles, lengths and subject matter - relate their stories successfully. Story choice, technical quality, editorial integrity, creativity, writing and use of sound all factor into the selection of winners.
All decisions are final.
