John Biewen is the audio program director at the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke University. He worked for Minnesota Public Radio for many years, covered the Rocky Mountain West for NPR News, then spent eight years as a correspondent with American RadioWorks, the documentary unit of American Public Media. Biewen’s work has won many honors, including two Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Awards, the Scripps Howard National Journalism Award, and the Third Coast Festival's Radio Impact Award.
Scared was presented by John Biewen at the opening session of the 2008 Third Coast Conference - Presenting the 2008 TCF ShortDocs: Radio Ephemera.
Radio Ephemera challenged any/everyone to produce a short audio work inspired by two books from the Prelinger Library in San Francisco, and featuring the voice of a stranger.
