Presented
Randy Morton of Pacific Piano Supply in Chatsworth, California talks as he prepares to re-string the Myrow family Steinway.
At the end, Joseph Myrow (the producer's grandfather) plays a tiny part of his composition "Genesis," which is playfully digitized to resemble a needle hitting the end of a record.
Produced for the 2010 TCF ShortDocs Challenge: Book Odds.
Rachael Myrow is a host/reporter for the California Report, broadcast out of KQED in San Francisco. She can sight read on the piano, but that's about it. The genetically bestowed dog ears do help for radio, though.
Book Odds invited anyone/everyone to produce a short audio work inspired by (and named after) song titles from The Books’ record The Way Out, and including samples from their library of musical bits, strange phrases and sonic doodads. Read more about and listen to other Book Odds submissions.
