Story

One man's struggle with himself and his family while trying to maintain his faith in God.

Produced for the 2010 TCF ShortDocs Challenge: Book Odds.

Producer

Joe M. Johnson is currently attending Montana State University in Bozeman, MT. and is about to complete his major in the School of Film and Photography. This is his first attempt at an audio piece. He is looking forward to expanding on the subject matter of "I Didn't Know That (I was capable)" for future projects.

Extra

Book Odds invited anyone/everyone to produce a short audio work inspired by (and named after) song titles from The Books' record The Way Out, and including samples from their library of musical bits, strange phrases and sonic doodads. Read more about and listen to other Book Odds submissions.

Comments

The struggle is really put out there clearly with so much emotion. It's short and to the point, but very powerful. Thanks Joe!

I have now listened to many of these audios and to this one at least 3 times. Each time I am mesmerized and totally involved. Fantastic.

The information is put forth so honestly and personally that it can’t be countered. A tribute to the past and hope for the future.

So much emotion in so little time! I wish this had lasted for at least an hour, but that 2 minutes and 59 seconds packed an emotional punch

Powerful piece! Such an emotional subject of people trying to be who they are and the dangerous religious propaganda that holds us back.

A very moving piece, I really enjoyed it. You did a great job editing, very professional; this could be on a NPR show. Nice work Joe!

Joe...

Amazing job! I know that you had to sift through a bunch of material and I think you pulled the right stuff out. I loved it!
