Julie Shapiro

Julie Shapiro is executive producer of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation / Radio National’s (RN) Creative Audio Unit, and a long-time cultivator of innovative audio and listening communities worldwide. In 2000 she co-founded the Third Coast International Audio Festival, where as artistic director she shaped the Festival's creative trajectory and prioritized innovative audio and a cross-pollinating international listening culture. Julie has taught radio to university students, presented at conferences all over the globe, and produced stories for the airwaves in the US and beyond. Before landing happily in public radio, she worked at the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke University, and at countless independent records stores across the US.
