Piya Kochhar was born in India but, because of her father's job, spent her childhood moving from country to country. She has lived and attended school in Kenya, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Canada, India, and the U.S. Kochhar studied radio at Columbia University’s School of Journalism and for the past three years has worked with Sound Portraits and StoryCorps in New York City.
