As an independent journalist, Christopher Johnson covers popular culture, music and technology. He spent seven years with NPR as a producer, reporter, and editor. He helped launch NPR's Day To Day and News And Notes With Ed Gordon. Johnson’s work has been featured on NPR, The Root, and KCRW's UnFictional. Johnson was project coordinator and senior editor for Oakland Voices - the Oakland Tribune’s community correspondents project. He recently received a Knight Foundation grant to report and produce a series on the West Africa-based religion Ifa and its popularity among black Americans
