About the 2022-23 Third Coast Competition Categories
There are currently nine categories in the Third Coast Competition, each listed below. Once submitted, all entries deemed eligible will be in the running to win a Third Coast/Richard H. Driehaus Foundation Award (note that you can enter more than one category, but can only win one Award in one category). All eligible entries are also in the running to be named one of our Third Coast Finalists.
In addition to checking out the nine individual categories, we encourage you to read more about This Year’s Annual & Pilot Offerings, and share your input on the kinds of new offerings you'd like to see from our Competition in the future.
Individual Categories
- Best Documentary (Three Awards: Gold, Silver, Bronze)
- Best Documentary: Non-English Language (One Award)
- Best Documentary: Short (One Award)
- Audio Unbound (One Award)
- Best New Artist (One Award)
- Best News Feature (One Award)
- Impact (One Award)
- Best Serialized Story (One Award)
- Directors’ Choice (One Award)
Note: All entries are automatically entered into consideration for our Directors’ Choice Award. Please also keep in mind that Third Coast’s role in this process is both to verify eligibility in each category, and to consider and advocate for each piece entered into our Competition. For that reason, we may move or add your entry to another eligible category without notifying you in order to give your entry the best opportunity to compete.
