Late Night Provocations Guidelines
Pitches for Late Night Provocations Pitches (300 words maximum) are now closed.
What is a Third Coast Provocation?
Provocations are a 5-minute talks from producers who hope to dare and ignite, on the opening night of the Third Coast Conference.
What exactly do we mean by provocations? Imagine that you’re hashing out an issue you care deeply about in audio with a friend — except this time, you're in a room with hundreds of people, on the first night of Third Coast. We hope that attendees continue buzzing with the energy of Provocations, all weekend long. Listen to the 2017 Provocations and 2018 Provocations to hear exactly what we mean.
What should you consider when pitching a Provocation?
- This is an opportunity to say something challenging, candid, heartfelt, satirical, potent, necessary. What does this community need to hear, right now? Also note: nearly all Conference attendees will be in the audience!
- We love that Provocations can be creative, multi-media experiences! We recommend being thoughtful about the inclusion of audio + visual elements (we use Keynote!) This doesn't mean that you absolutely need audio + visual, but consider media can add layers to your Provocation.
- All Provocations are recorded for the Third Coast Pocket Conference, our podcast capturing Third Coast Conference programming, released as a free resource for producers all over the world.
- We are excited to support Provocations by providing editorial check-ins, additional resources, and a run-through.
- We humbly compensate Late Night Provocateurs with gratis registration to the Conference and a travel stipend of $100.
