Ramtin Arablouei

Ramtin Arablouei (@ramtinarablouei) is co-host and co-producer of NPR’s podcast Throughline , a show that explores history through creative, immersive storytelling designed to reintroduce history to new audiences. As a speaker at the 2019 Late Night Provocations, Ramtin will speak on how the editorial demand for irony and humor in the podcasting world limits its reach and impact.

He started at NPR in 2015 with a three-week contract to produce a pilot for How I Built This with Guy Raz, and now produces, reports, mixes, and writes music for such top-rated podcasts as TED Radio Hour, Embedded, Invisibilia, Reveal, and many others. As a trained audio engineer and composer, Ramtin has contributed sound design for the IMAX trailer for 300: Rise of an Empire, written music for award-winning podcasts including 2017 Third Coast/RHDF award-winner Los Cassettes del Exilio from Radio Ambulante & Believed, which won a Peabody in 2018. Born in Iran, Ramtin emigrated to the U.S. with his family as a child. He graduated from St. Mary’s College of Maryland with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and history.
