For the 2005 ShortDocs Challenge, we asked producers to submit ideas for stories about "games."
We received 100 proposals from the U.S. and far beyond, and commissioned four stories that explored the topic from compelling and unusual perspectives. These were presented in the opening session of the 2005 Third Coast Conference.
Presenting the 2005 TCF ShortDocs: Stories About Games is moderated by Michele Norris, and features producers Blake Eskin, Michael Kavanagh, Melissa Allison and Judith Sloan.

Blake Eskin's stories about board games have appeared on The Next Big Thing and in the New Yorker, the New York Times, the Boston Globe, and the Washington Post.
Judith Sloan is an actress, audio artist, oral historian, and educator whose multi-character solo performances combine humor, pathos, and a love of the absurd.
Melissa Allison has worked as an independent producer and as an associate producer with The Kitchen Sisters, Homelands Productions, and WNYC's Radio Rookies.
Michael Kavanagh is an independent reporter and producer based in New Haven, Connecticut.
Michele Norris is a host of All Things Considered. Before joining NPR, Norris worked as a television correspondent for ABC News and she has worked as a print reporter for the Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, and Los Angeles Times. Norris has received numerous awards, including the Livingston Award, the NABJ Salute to Excellence Award, an Emmy, and a Peabody. Norris also narrated the five-part radio series on Black Choral Music called Lift Every Voice and Sing! and the radio documentary Say it Plain: A Century of Great African-American Speeches.
