Foxhunters

For over 60 years, along the Texas-Louisiana border, Hinkel Schillings and Shade Pate have gone fox hunting. Several times a week they sit around a fire from sunset to dawn listening to their hounds bark. That's all there really is to fox hunting: listening.

Rabbit Hunter

After Florida's sugar cane crops die, the harvested fields are burned, sending hundreds of rabbits out of the fire and, as they say, into the frying pan. Dozens of teenage boys wait at the edge of the fields, broken cane stalks in hand, ready to pounce. They eat the rabbits they catch, or sell them to neighbors for a couple dollars each.
