Before Emily Newton settled in West Virginia working with Allegheny Mountain Radio, she was traveling the country as a puppeteer. Newton's years in theatre taught her the importance of truthful storytelling. Emily works devotedly on The 219 Project: an archive of voices telling stories from the great Appalachian highway, US Route 219. "In Appalachia, the term neighborhood is relative," Newton explains. "We have mountains instead of stop signs. Our neighbors might live off the same road, but across the state line."
