Our 2017 Shop Talks include:

Audio Educators Assembly / Sara Shahrari & Andrew Leland
The kids these days are listening to podcasts – and they want to know how to make great audio. The possibilities in the classroom are endless. Andrew Leland of the Organist and Smith College/UMass-Amherst, and Sara Shahriari of the Missouri School of Journalism and Mizzou’s Digital Storytelling program lead a session for educators to share tips on what works in the classroom and beyond.

How Design Thinking Can Improve Your Podcast / PRX's Kerri Hoffman & John Barth
Even with hard work and the best intentions, podcasts can fail without mastering production, marketing, promotion, and sponsorship efforts. Over the last year, PRX’s Project Catapult has worked with seven public radio podcast teams through a process of rapid content development and feedback, addressing each show's unique challenges using a creative strategy called design thinking, where all efforts towards innovation and problem solving do so in service of the audience. In this workshop-style session with PRX CEO Kerri Hoffman and PRX CCO John Barth, hear about how you can implement some of their best practices to help transform problems into opportunities for innovation.

Radio Atlas Audio Screening / Eleanor McDowell
Radio Atlas is an English-language home for subtitled audio from around the world. A place to hear inventive documentaries, dramas and works of sound art that have been made in languages you don’t necessarily speak. Details on the Radio Atlas screening TBA!

Unconferencing / Open to everyone & anyone! Propose an Unconferencing session & see what other folks want to talk about on the Third Coast Switchboard.
