Through their journey down Letaba road, Brandon, Keith, and Jameel quickly realise that appearances may not be the entire story and that there is much more to their neighbours than they think.
Youth reporters Brandon (14), Keith (13) and Jameel (11) live and attend school in Manenberg – a poor residential area on the outskirts of Cape Town, South Africa beset by high levels of unemployment, substance abuse, gang activity and violence. For the past year they have been coming to the local Community Centre to attend weekly radio workshops with the Children's Radio Foundation.
We Thought He Had a Black Heart was produced by Clemence Petit-Perrot for the 2012 ShortDocsChallenge.
