Shaina Shealy is a multimedia journalist and producer at Snap Judgment based in Oakland, CA, where she's pursuing her dream of making stories that can connect people, sometimes across divides that are difficult to overcome.
Her work focuses on the Middle East and women's health & safety, and has been supported by awards from the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting, the International Women's Media Foundation, the Matador Network and more. It has taken her to a thorn forest in India, an ice cream shop in Gaza City, mushroom houses in the Rwandan hills, a Zumba class in Jerusalem, a home for retired actresses near Yangon, Myanmar and several strawberry farms in the Palestinian Territories. Along with Snap Judgment , her stories have been distributed by Public Radio International, NPR.org and Women in the World/The New York Times.
