Shirley Alfaro

A native Chicagoan, Shirley Alfaro is rooted in communities, art, education, and justice.

Alfaro's background in is theater, and she earned her MSW from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She utilizes art and storytelling as a foundation for developing public programs, socially engaged art interventions and public policy research.

Shirley has worked at StoryCorps Chicago and the National Public Housing Museum, and in arts-based programming for Chicago's young people at Marwen and After School Matters. Currently, she is the associate director of the Latino Policy Forum, a statewide advocacy organization.
